Identity Governance & Administration (IGA)
Also known as: IGA · Identity Governance
Definition
Identity Governance & Administration (IGA) is the category of IAM platforms that manage the full identity lifecycle plus access certifications, segregation-of-duties enforcement, role mining, and audit evidence emission.
IGA combines administration (provisioning, role management, access requests, JML automation) with governance (access certifications, SoD enforcement, audit logging, regulatory reporting). The leaders in this category are SailPoint, Saviynt, Omada, and One Identity.
IGA platforms typically integrate with HRIS for the authoritative source, an IdP for authentication, and downstream apps via SCIM or custom connectors. The governance side is where the audit value lives — periodic certifications produce the evidence regulators expect.
